I am originally from Moscow, Russia, but have been living in New York City for exactly half of my life. For about 14 years, I worked in web and graphic design in the corporate world, which forced me to put my art on the back burner. Five years ago, I had a short stint of living and working in Connecticut, which awakened something in me. I started sketching nature, something I hadn’t done before. I was a full-fledged city girl, obsessed with architecture, cityscapes and straight lines, and suddenly found myself enjoying all the natural gifts of New England. I started painting glass and ceramics as gifts for my family and friends.
Now I live in Greenpoint, Brooklyn with my husband and a cat in an amazing loft building full of artistic people. Sometimes I feel that the whole block is permeated with creative energy. My husband and I are both artists — we met at the School of Visual Arts where we were pursuing our Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees. We are constantly bouncing creative ideas off each other and he is my marketing guru. |
